The BDSM test

The name is the one people search for; the test is wider than it. BDSM stands for bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism. This test scores those and the rest of what people call kink: how you like to lead or follow, give or take sensation, tie or be tied, care for or be cared for, and play rough or play soft. Thirty-two plain statements, twenty-three roles, ranked by how strongly each fits you today.

Free, no account, nothing explicit, and your answers never leave your browser. Every role in your result has its own page explaining what it means, what it gets confused with, and where people near you do it.

Question 1 of 32

When plans are up in the air, I'm usually the one who decides.

Your answers stay in your browser. They are scored here, on your device, and never sent to us.

Whatever this says about you, none of it happens without everyone involved agreeing to it first, every time.

What it can tell you

Every term the test scores has its own page: what it means, what it gets confused with, and where people do it near you.

Dominant

You like holding the plan, and you take the responsibility that comes with it seriously.

Submissive

You find room to breathe in trusting someone else to steer.

Switch

Which side you're on depends on the person and the day, and that's the point.

Rigger

You're drawn to rope as a craft, and you want to be genuinely good at it.

Rope Bunny

Being tied does something for you that very little else does.

Sadist

Giving someone a hard time, with their enthusiastic agreement, is the appeal.

Masochist

Intensity gets you somewhere that comfort doesn't.

Brat

You'd rather be caught than handed over, and the chase is most of the fun.

Brat Tamer

You enjoy the argument, and you enjoy winning it more.

Degrader

Words are your instrument, and you use them precisely.

Degradee

Words that would sting anywhere else land differently when you asked for them.

Primal (Hunter)

You'd rather it were instinctive than choreographed.

Primal (Prey)

Being chased switches something on that talking never does.

Caregiver

Looking after someone properly is the part you'd keep if you could only keep one.

Little

Being allowed to put the adult down for a while is the whole appeal.

Master / Mistress

You want structure that holds when nobody's watching, not just during a scene.

Slave

You want the structure to be real, and you want it to last.

Owner / Handler

You like the shape of caring for someone who takes an animal role.

Pet

Dropping human for a while is a relief, and you're good at it.

Exhibitionist

Being watched sharpens everything.

Voyeur

You learn more from watching than from being told, and you enjoy it.

Experimentalist

You'd rather try it and find out than read about it for another year.

Vanilla

Not much here is calling to you, and that's a real answer.

Common questions about the BDSM test

Is the BDSM test accurate?

It is an honest reflection of how you answered thirty-two plain questions today. It is not a psychological assessment, and interests shift with experience and with different partners, so treat the result as a snapshot and retake it whenever you like. The scoring rules are explained in full in our results guide.

What do the results mean?

You get a ranked profile across twenty-three roles: dominant, submissive or switch, rigger or rope bunny, sadist or masochist, brat or brat tamer, caregiver or little, primal, pet, and more. The top one is your headline result and the rest are your mix. Every role has its own page explaining what it means, what it gets confused with, and where people near you do it.

Am I a Dom or a sub?

If you want to set the pace and carry the responsibility, you lean dominant. If you find room to breathe in trusting someone else to steer, you lean submissive. Plenty of people are drawn to both, which is what a switch is. The test scores all three, and the switch result only wins when your leading and following sides are both strong and close together.

Is my result stored or private?

Private. There is no account and no email. Scoring happens in your browser and your answers are never sent to us, so there is nothing on our side to store, leak or hand over. Your result is a plain link you can bookmark.

Can couples compare results?

Yes, with the compare tool. Both results travel in the link itself, so we never hold a copy. It describes where you complement each other and what is worth talking about. It deliberately does not give you a compatibility percentage, because a single number gets taken far more seriously than a five-minute questionnaire deserves.

BDSM test vs kink test: what is the difference?

Usually just the name. A kink test tends to cover a broader range of interests and a BDSM test focuses on roles in power exchange, rope, sensation and play. This one scores the standard roles people search for and uses plain, non-explicit language throughout, so it works as either.
