Is primal prey the same as wanting to be hurt?

No. Prey is about being chased and caught, which is a pursuit dynamic rather than a pain one. The appeal people describe is the least cerebral thing they do.

Primal does tend to produce marks: grip bruises, scratches, carpet burn. That's a side effect of wrestling, not the point of it, and someone can love the chase while wanting none of the impact play a masochist enjoys.

Because struggling for real is part of it, the stop signal has to work when you're out of breath. Most people agree on a physical one rather than a word.
